Research suggests it may work like other mind-body therapies to reduce stress. While others believe that yoga promotes the release of endorphins (natural painkillers and mood elevators) from the brain. The mind and the body are one, and that if it is given the right tools and taken to the right environment, it can find harmony and heal itself. Yoga therefore is considered therapeutic.
Yoga promotes the release of endorphins, as it relaxes the central nervous system and calms the mind. Endorphin levels rise in late pregnancy, as the body prepares for childbirth, and peak from 38 weeks onward and into labor. Here the participant learns the settle the mind and develops greater self-awareness overall. In a general class everyone can expect more challenging asanas (postures), combine pranayama (Breathing) techniques, and use other yogic methods such as chanting and visualizations methods. It allows us to become more detached from what is going on around us and helps us still the constant chattering in our mind. In Yoga, meditation techniques are taught very systematically, and over a course of sessions cover body awareness, breath awareness, inner observation and mantra (sound).Tags: yoga, equipment, exercise, mat, poses, props, relaxation, training
